It was Scottie Scheffler’s birthday, but he gave some loyal fans the gift of a lifetime.

Scheffler, 28, rewarded a small group of fans who waited in the parking lot outside TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. for longer than an hour by giving them the rest of his birthday cake, as well as fulfilling their autograph and photo requests, as seen in a video posted to social media by the PGA Tour.

Pushing a stroller carrying his newborn son with one hand and holding a cake box in the other, Scheffler offered the dessert to the fans after they wished him a happy birthday late Friday night.

Scheffler had just finished shooting a 64 in the second round of the Travelers Championship.

“We’re not going to eat it,” the world’s top-ranked player said to the awestruck crowd. “I had a piece inside. They gave me the whole cake.”

Scheffler signed some hats, the cake box from nearby Mozzicato De Pasquale Bakery and Pastry Shop and a random Domino’s pizza box.

The fans were so excited to see Scheffler that some were literally bouncing up and down when he emerged from the clubhouse.

“Ya’ll share that cake,” Scheffler told the fan holding the box, after taking his hat to sign so that the cake did not drop.

One fan called Scheffler, who has two career major wins, “the greatest of all-time.”

It was a much happier parking-lot encounter than the one that Scheffler experienced in Kentucky last month, when he was arrested and charged with second-degree assault of a police officer after he attempted to drive through an order to stop his car on his way into the PGA Championship.

The charges were later dropped and Scheffler said he had “no ill will” toward the officer after the “severe miscommunication.”

So, what kind of cake does Scheffler eat?

It looks like vanilla with vanilla icing and a red-colored filling between layers.
