The cause of death for Prince William and Prince Harry’s cousin Rosie Roche has been reportedly revealed.

Roche was killed by a “traumatic head injury,” according to the Daily Mail, The Independent and other outlets, which cite the Wiltshire and Swindon coroner. She was 20 years old.

The Sun reported that Roche died on July 14. She was reportedly found by her mother and sister after she had been packing for a trip with her friends.

Wiltshire and Swindon coroner’s court has opened an investigation into her death. The Sun reports that the inquiry was “adjourned until October 25.”

Local coroner Grant Davies previously told the outlet that police “have deemed the death as non-suspicious and there was no third-party involvement.” A spokesperson for the family told the outlet that she “will be sorely missed.”

Roche is the granddaughter of Princess Diana’s uncle, Edmund Roche. She was a student at Durham University, where she studied literature, at the time of her death.

“Roche, Rosie Jeanne Burke, Died on Monday 14th July 2025. Darling daughter of Hugh and Pippa, incredible sister to Archie and Agatha, Granddaughter to Derek and Rae Long. Private family funeral,” an obituary published by the Yorkshire Post on Saturday, July 19, read.

The statement also noted that a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Roche’s death comes months after the passing of another royal family member. In February, several outlets reported that Thomas Kingston — who was married to King Charles III’s second cousin Lady Gabriella Kingston and once dated Pippa Middleton — was found dead at age 45. (Thomas and Lady Gabriella tied the knot in 2019.)

“It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother,” a statement released by the Kingston family days later read. “Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.”

A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace also paid tribute to Kingston at the time. “The King and The Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family,” the statement read. “In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family.”
