Patrick Mahomes has been leaning on a former NFL rival and future Hall of Famer this offseason.

During an appearance Monday on FanDuel’s “Up & Adams” show, the Chiefs quarterback shared that he’s conversed with seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady a “good amount” as he prepares for his ninth season in the league.

“I’ve talked to Tom a good amount this offseason, and it’s cool that he wants to give me advice, he doesn’t have to be like that, he’s such a good dude and I have so much respect for him and I’ll take any advice he gives me,” Mahomes said.

Brady, 47, and Mahomes, 29, squared off six times before the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback called it a career in 2023 after 23 seasons.

Although Mahomes topped Brady three times in the regular season, the Chiefs fell to the NFL legend twice in the postseason, with the most recent being Tampa Bay’s 31-9 triumph over Kansas City in Super Bowl 2021.

Brady, now preparing for his second season as Fox’s lead NFL analyst, recently said that if there’s one QB who can possibly replicate his success, it’s Mahomes — a compliment the three-time Super Bowl winner doesn’t take lightly.

“Having Tom, a guy like that say that, just motivates me even more,” Mahomes told Kay Adams Monday.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are looking ahead after a disappointing conclusion to the 2024 season: a lopsided 40-22 Super Bowl loss to the Eagles in February.

Though Mahomes was tight-lipped about Brady’s secrets, he did stress the importance of being authentic.

“He always talks about being yourself,” Mahomes said of Brady. “Guys can spot when you’re not authentic and you’re not putting in the work. That’s something that he did every single day. That’s why guys respected him so much.”

Brady spent the first 20 years of his career in New England, where he won six of his seven Super Bowls.

He left for Tampa Bay in 2020 and added a final championship to his Hall of Fame resume.

The Chiefs’ quest for a third Super Bowl win in four years begins Friday, Sept. 5, when they face the rival Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil.
