As if things couldn’t get any worse for the Chiefs, one of the team’s biggest names appeared to suffer a significant injury with less than two minutes left in Kansas City’s 16-13 loss to the Chargers.
Patrick Mahomes looked like he suffered a knee injury after being wrapped up by a Chargers defender while he was throwing the ball downfield.
The quarterback was in clear pain as he grabbed at his left knee and rolled on the ground as medical staff came out to check on him.
Gardner Minshew came into the game and video showed Mahomes being helped by Chiefs trainers down the tunnel into the locker room.
Mahomes finished the game with 16 completions and 189 yards and the Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention.
The team last missed the postseason in 2014.
