Pat McAfee appeared to take a hit from a vape pen on the set of his “Draft Spectacular” Thursday during the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wis., as seen in a video shared on X.
Former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, who was a guest on the live show, turned it down when McAfee offered.
The ESPN host tossed the pen into the crowd at Lambeau Field before he blew a cloud of smoke in the direction of the set.
McAfee wasn’t heard saying anything in the video, which was posted by local Green Bay reporter Kyle Malzhan.
The moment came after WWE’s Paul Heyman said Monday that McAfee was smoking weed Sunday after The Roast of WrestleMania in Las Vegas, where marijuana is legal.
Heyman, who was a guest on McAfee’s show, said McAfee allegedly told him “You know Stephen A. Smith really sucks, right?”, an allegation McAfee claimed is not true.
The longtime wrestling executive and manager added the ESPN host doesn’t care about the opinions of most people, including “the people who pay you.”
McAfee is unapologetically himself on and off the airwaves.
During a February 2024 appearance on the “All the Smoke” podcast, the former NFL punter was open about his love for weed.
“I smoke a lot of weed,” McAfee said when asked how he balances negativity and stays focused. “I do. I think that’s a massive piece of it for me.”
McAfee made headlines earlier this month after University of Mississippi student Mary Kate Cornett told NBC News she intends to take legal action against McAfee and ESPN, and potentially others who, she said, helped spread a false internet rumor alleging she slept with her boyfriend’s father.

Cornett’s name and photo were attached to the rumor, and it became a topic of conversation on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” on Feb. 26. She was 18 at the time.
