The Liberty’s season hit a snag in recent weeks without Jonquel Jones and Leonie Fiebich.
The defending champions lost five of the final seven games in June.
But this month is the Liberty’s chance to get right and show that circumstances outside their control — such as Jones’ injury and Fiebich’s absence — were the cause for the slipups. That those losses were not because of more deeply rooted issues.
The Liberty tipped off July with a win Thursday against the Sparks.
