Nina Dobrev seemingly ditched her engagement ring less than a week before news broke that she and Shaun White called off their engagement.

Dobrev, 36, attended the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Eternity on Sunday, September 7, where she stunned in a black A-line gown by SIR. with studded pumps and a silver clutch. Dobrev, however, was not pictured wearing the five-carat oval diamond ring that White, 39, proposed with last year.

Dobrev later shared red carpet photos via Instagram, writing, “Here’s to Eternity #TIFF.”

Us Weekly confirmed on Thursday, September 11, that Dobrev and White broke up after five years together.

While neither the Vampire Diaries alum nor White have publicly addressed the split, they were last spotted together on August 31 during a farmers market date. White was even featured in an Instagram photo dump shared by Dobrev on Saturday, September 5, ahead of her solo TIFF outing.

“Summer doesn’t officially end until September 22nd FYI 🌞,” Dobrev wrote, including a picture of her and White lounging in bed.

That same day, Dobrev also joked about “fixing a man” in a cryptic TikTok video.

“How do you sleep at night knowing people don’t like you?” she lip-synched in the footage. “With no underwear, in case they wanna kiss my ass.”

The audio continued, “What’s your advice for women trying to fix their man? Listen, Bob the Builder, he’s got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you all look like a damn construction crew.”

Dobrev, without elaborating on the reason behind her post, captioned the upload with emojis of a construction worker, a truck and a hammer.

Dobrev and White started dating in 2020 and got engaged four years later.

“I went into shock. I just froze and stared at him,” she recalled to Vogue in October 2024, revealing that she blacked out during the proposal. “He said all the right things. … Eventually we realized — other than the caviar [Shaun set out] — we hadn’t eaten anything. So, we ordered Shake Shack and dumplings [from] the Golden Swan.”

The now-exes had often gushed over their relationship, with White previously telling Us Weekly that Dobrev was “so incredibly supportive” during his last Olympic run.

“She’s like, ‘Hey, I’m here to help you … how do I help you?’ It’s not about her,” White exclusively told Us in January 2022. “She’s just been so giving in that sense. She wants to elevate the people around her. It’s such a beautiful thing, especially in today’s world. … To have that kind of a caring quality is really special.”

White retired after the 2022 Winter Olympics.
