Nicole Kidman can always count on her girlfriends for support.

The Babygirl actress, 58, told Vogue that she has a close group of friends in Nashville. including her Big Little Lies costar Reese Witherspoon, who lives across the street, “a senior oncologist at Vanderbilt Hospital and another friend who runs a hospital,” according to the outlet.

“Ride-or-die friendships,” Kidman called them.

While Kidman’s interview was conducted prior to news of her split from Keith Urban and published on Wednesday, October 8, the interviewer noted that the divorce did not come as a surprise, in part because of her response to a question about how she was feeling at this point in her life.

“How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isn’t going in that direction?” she said.

Us Weekly confirmed on September 29 that she and Urban, 57, had separated after 19 years of marriage. The Practical Magic 2 star filed for divorce the following day, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, according to court docs obtained by Us.

Along with the divorce filing, Kidman submitted a marital dissolution agreement signed by both herself and Urban. The agreement included several documents related to their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, including a parenting plan, a child support plan and a “parenting seminar order.”

While the split came as a surprise to many fans, others had seen possible signs. The estranged couple was last spotted out in public together at a soccer game in June, and they hadn’t posted about each other on their respective social media pages in months. Urban’s latest post featuring Kidman came in May after he won the Triple Crown Award at the Academy of Country Music Awards, while Kidman paid tribute to Urban on their anniversary in June.

Kidman made her first public appearance since the split news broke at the amfAR Dallas benefit gala on October 4, where she presented Lioness creator Taylor Sheridan with the Award of Inspiration. Days later, Kidman stepped out with fresh bangs in her hair and had her daughters by her side at the Chanel Womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week on Monday, October 6.

Meanwhile, Urban performed his first concert post-split on October 2. He was spotted without his wedding ring while touching down in his private jet in Hershey, Pennsylvania, hours before the show. Later, during his High and Alive Tour stop at Hershey’s Giant Center, he included a photo of Kidman and their daughters in a premade slideshow while he performed “Heart Like a Hometown.”

Kidman’s utility player Maggie Baugh was not present at the concert after the pair made headlines amid his split from Kidman for a lyric change he made in his song “The Fighter.” While performing the Kidman-inspired song with Baugh, 25, during his September 25 concert in Chicago, Urban sang, “Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player,” instead of, “I’ll be your fighter.”

Baugh faced backlash when she took to Instagram with footage of the moment on September 26, adding in the caption, “Did he just say that 👀.”

Amid rumors that Maggie played a role in the end of Kidman and Urban’s marriage, her father, Chuck Baugh, took to Facebook on October 1 to shut down the speculation.

“NO. Just no,” he wrote alongside a TikTok video claiming that Maggie may “allegedly [be] the person responsible for Keith’s divorce from Nicole Kidman.”

While Maggie has yet to speak out on the rumors, she returned to Instagram after the controversy on Monday to share that she would have an “announcement coming soon.”
