Nicola Peltz Beckham praised her dynamics with her in-laws less than two years before their relationship seemingly fractured.

“I come from a big family that we are all so close, and now [I have] an even bigger family,” Nicola, 31, said on the Today show in resurfaced footage originally broadcast in February 2024. “Brooklyn [Beckham] grew up so close with his family, so now for us to all be able to spend so much time together, I feel so lucky.”

Nicola’s husband, 26-year-old Brooklyn, is the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham. (David, 50, and Victoria, 51, are also parents of Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14.)

“They’re the most amazing people in the world,” Nicola gushed. “The fact that Victoria flew out to support me [for the premiere of my directorial debut Lola] meant so much to me. It really did.”

Nicola and Brooklyn got married in 2022, the leadup to which allegedly set off a rift between the bride and Victoria over wedding dresses and other ceremony plans.

“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” Brooklyn claimed in a lengthy statement shared via social media earlier in January. “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”

Brooklyn further claimed that Nicola has been “consistently disrespected” by his relatives, who allegedly don’t think of the actress as a member of their family.

“Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations,” Brooklyn alleged. “We’ve gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show ‘our perfect family!’”

Brooklyn, with Nicola by his side, has since walked away from his famous family.

“I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety,” he wrote. “For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press or manipulation. All we want [is] peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”

Brooklyn and Nicola ultimately renewed their wedding vows last year without any of the Beckhams in attendance.

“Brooklyn’s living his life,” a source told Us Weekly earlier this month. “He’s happy, rich and has everything going for him. He has freedom. He and Nicola are not sitting around waiting for a phone call.”

David and Victoria have not publicly addressed any of Brooklyn’s claims or their familiar estrangement. A second insider, however, claimed that the longtime couple were surprised by Brooklyn’s bombshell statement.

“[Victoria] was completely blown away that Brooklyn went to this level,” a second source revealed in the latest Us cover story. “She and David never thought he’d do something like this.”
