Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long is calling out those who criticized Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show for being disingenuous.

“I’ve never seen so many white guys all the sudden act like they don’t like big booty Latinas on TV,” said Long, 40, on the Monday, February 9, episode of his “Green Light With Chris Long” podcast. “That is unbelievable, dude. All the sudden, ‘Nah, I want to watch Brantley Gilbert. I don’t like Latin Women. Bro, be real, dude.”

The NFL selecting Bad Bunny to perform at the 2026 Super Bowl was met with criticism from Conservative politicians and figures, blasting the league for picking someone who sings primarily in Spanish and has been critical of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

In response, conservative organization Turning Point USA assembled an alternative halftime show, dubbed the All-American Halftime Show, which featured Gilbert, 41, and others, including Kid Rock.

“For my entire adult life I have never heard anybody give a f*** about the halftime show,” Long said. “Usually that’s when you go out on the porch, make yourself a sandwich. All of the sudden this year, people care about the halftime show. A lot.”

“So I wanted the halftime show to be good,” he continued, joking, “A little disappointed he didn’t play Born in the USA.”

Long added that, despite not speaking Spanish, he thought the show was “really good.”

“The set design was f***ing fantastic,” he said. “The plants were people, there was a whole town in there. Somebody got married, somebody really got married. People were hanging out, Ricky Martin showed up, Lady Gaga was there, she was like ‘I got your English song.’”

He concluded, ”But I just thought it was cool. But in the end I just don’t care about the halftime show much, but I was legitimately like, ‘this is a quality show. It’s a good show.’”

Not everyone agreed with Long’s assessment. Trump, 79, took to Truth Social minutes after Bad Bunny’s performance concluded, calling it “one of the worst EVER.”

“It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World,” he wrote.

Trump continued, “This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD.”

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell defended Bad Bunny, 31, before his performance, calling him “one of the great artists in the world.”

“This platform is to unite people and to be able to bring people together with their creativity, with their talents, and to be able to use this moment to do that,” he said during a February 2 press conference. “I think artists in the past have done that. I think Bad Bunny understands that and I think he’ll have a great performance.”
