With emotions were at their highest, Tyrese Haliburton’s dad chose to poke the Greek Freak.
After the Milwaukee Bucks choked away Game 5 against the Pacers to end their season, a new camera angle shows John Haliburton running onto the court and taunting Giannis Antetokounmpo with a towel appearing to feature his son as Indiana celebrated the 119-118 overtime victory.
A Bucks player eventually ran over to try and halt the drama.
Antetokounmpo continued to stand idly by the 3-point line as the anger began to marinate for the former NBA champion.
Cameras then caught Antetokounmpo walking over to Tyrese’s father, where the two would exchange words that didn’t appear pleasant as they went forehead-to-forehead and were eventually separated.
“I believe (in) being humble in victory. That’s the way I am,” Antetokounmpo said postgame.
“Now, there can be a lot of people out there that are like, no when you win the game you got to talk (stuff) and it’s a green light for you to be disrespectful toward somebody else … I disagree. I’ve won the championship. They haven’t.”
Antetokounmpo also got into a physical altercation with Pacers forward Bennedict Mathurin, putting his hand around the back of Mathurin’s neck.
“Coming on the floor and showing me his son’s towel, with (Haliburton’s) face (saying) ‘This is what we do. This is what we F’ing do. This the F we do,’ …. I feel like that’s very, very disrespectful,” Antetokounmpo said.
“I’m happy for him, I’m happy for his son, and I’m happy that he’s happy for his son,” Antetokounmpo later added. “That’s how you’re supposed to feel. But coming to me and disrespecting me and cursing at me I think is totally unacceptable, totally unacceptable.”
John admitted to being in the wrong for the altercation.
“I sincerely apologize to Giannis, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Pacers organization for my actions following tonight’s game. This was not a good reflection on our sport or my son and I will not make that mistake again,” John said.
Tyrese also didn’t think that his father should have rushed the court and taunted Antetokounmpo.
“I don’t agree with what transpired there from him. I think basketball is basketball and let’s keep it on the court,” Tyrese said. “I think he just got excited, saw his son make a game-winner and came on the court. We had a conversation. He needs to just allow me to play basketball and stay over there, I’ll come to him to celebrate.”
Milwaukee blew a 118-111 lead with 40 seconds remaining in overtime.
The Bucks head home for a murky offseason where Antetokounmpo, 30, will be a hot commodity on the trade market as Milwaukee is nearly out of ways to improve their roster.
They took a big swing prior to the 2024 offseason, trading for guard Damian Lillard, who is now out for most of the 2025-26 season with a torn Achilles.
The Post’s Brian Lewis reported that Brooklyn will be at the “front of the line,” should the Bucks opt to move on from the two-time MVP.
The Pacers will now face the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference semifinals, while the Celtics await the winner of the Knicks-Pistons series.
