The Duke’s Mayo Bowl has drawn a cult following in the college football universe over the last few seasons thanks to its sponsor and outlandish postgame mayonnaise dunk of the winning head coach.

If that wasn’t enough to entice a college football fan, this year’s game also added some suspense when it was revealed mid-game by NBC Sports’ Nicole Auerbach that a celebrity was dressed up as Duke’s mascot “Tubby.”

As the clock ticked and ticked during the game between Minnesota and Virginia Tech, fans waited for the reveal.

And finally, when all was said and done after the Gophers’ 24-10 win, it was the man who famously wears a clock under the mascot suit: hip-hop artist Flavor Flav.

As Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck awaited his moment in mayonnaise glory, the top of the costume — fittingly a mayo bottle with a yellow lid — was removed with the rapper underneath.

Clad in gold and silver clocks, he had two simple words for the Bank of America Stadium crowd and the folks watching at home: “Yeah, boy!”

Fleck seemed to be in utter disbelief.

“It’s Flavor Flav, holy crap!” he said.

The two shared a hug, and after a few moments, Fleck sat down and awaited his moment with the condiment, which was subsequently dumped on his head with the help of Flav.

Flav’s mayo bath moment comes months after he was a prominent super fan at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, where he loudly supported the U.S. water polo squad and helped an American track and field athlete pay rent.

As for Minnesota, it finishes the year 8-5 after controlling the game and even pulling off a fake tush push pass to seal the win in the fourth quarter.
