The choice last summer belonged to the Knicks. They were the ones willing to part with a boatload of draft picks in order to bring Mikal Bridges here. They were the ones who identified Bridges as a part of the team’s immediate core and put their money where their plan was.

This time, it’s different.

This time, it is Bridges’ choice.

This time, it is Bridges’ call. This time, it is Bridges who not only decides that he wants to be a Knick but goes a step further and emulates his captain, Jalen Brunson, by leaving a few dollars on the table in order to afford the Knicks more flexibility down the road.
