The Mets have added an important piece to their revamped coaching staff.
The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed the team has hired Troy Snitker as its hitting coach for the 2025 season after firing Eric Chavez and Jeremy Barnes, both of whom shared the role last season.
Snitker will work under Jeff Albert, who was promoted to run the major league team’s hitting program after previously overseeing it in the minors.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza kept his job after missing the playoffs, however most of his staff was let go shortly after the season.
The Post’s Joel Sherman was first to report the Mets were interviewing Snitker and that the Tigers were also interested.
Snitker, 36, was fired this offseason after seven seasons as the Astros hitting coach.
