Lil Nas X almost collaborated with Taylor Swift, but the project fell apart before coming to fruition, according to the rapper.

The “Old Town Road” hitmaker told E! News in an interview published on Friday, March 28, that he and Swift, 35, were set to make music together at one point.

“We were working on something,” Lil Nas, 25, shared. “She offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldn’t catch a vibe for it, so it didn’t happen.”

Lil Nas isn’t ruling out working with the “All Too Well” singer sometime in the future, however. He added: “When it happens… Global. World. Tay-tay and Nassy.”

While the vibe wasn’t right for their collab, Lil Nas still had nothing praise for Swift in the interview.

“I’m proud of my girl,” he said. “I love the album. She’s been doing her thing. She’s at the very tippety top. I’m thankful that she even considered me.”

Swift’s career has gone from strength to strength after she first burst onto the music scene as a teenager, releasing her self-titled album in 2006.

Over the years, she’s won 14 Grammy awards and scored an impressive 52 nominations.

In addition to her four Album of the Year trophies, she also received accolades for Best Country Album for Fearless and Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance for “White Horse” in 2010, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “Mean” in 2012, Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Safe & Sound” from The Hunger Games in 2013, Best Music Video for “Bad Blood” and Best Pop Vocal Album for 1989 in 2016, Best Music Video for All Too Well: The Short Film in 2023 and Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights in 2024.

Swift’s recent Eras Tour, which wrapped up in Vancouver in December, 2024 after the singer spent almost two years touring the globe, was a record-breaking success.

It became the highest-grossing tour of all time, grossing over $2 billion in ticket sales. The New York Times reported in December 2024 that this is “double the gross ticket sales of any other concert tour in history.” (This figure excludes merchandise sold during the shows.)

“I knew this tour was harder than anything I’d ever done before by a long shot,” Swift told Time Magazine in December 2023. “I finally, for the very first time, physically prepared correctly.”
