Lacey Chabert is Hallmark’s queen of Christmas, but she’s also ready to put a spell on party guests by hosting the ultimate Halloween bash.

“We’re all about pumpkins,” Chabert exclusively told Us Weekly of her go-to fall party theme during a set visit to her Hallmark Channel series, Celebrations With Lacey Chabert, earlier this year.

Chabert told Us all about her best tips for throwing a fall-inspired party — and decorating one’s home for the season — starting with “really going all in on your theme.”

She explained, “Whatever that means for the color scheme and the decor and the food and the treats and really committing to it.” For her family, Chabert said that usually includes decorating pumpkins with her daughter, Julia.

“I had one set of pumpkins that I did, like, a shabby chic color scheme. They were really, really pretty and matched the neutral tones of my home,” Chabert recalled of her 2024 color palette.

Fall doesn’t stop with pumpkins, as Chabert told Us she “loves” the “arts and crafts” part of the autumn season as well. “I just enjoy baking with every holiday. It’s having those special moments with my family,” she said.

Scroll down to see Chabert’s best tips and tricks for hosting a fall-themed bash and enjoying the Halloween season to its fullest:

DIY Costumes Are Key

“We’re all about a costume. I love a DIY costume,” the Mean Girls star said. “My daughter always has really fun ideas for unique costumes and she’ll blend different characters together, make her own theme.”

Halloween Tunes

The actress told Us “Monster Mash” is a “always” on her fall playlist.

Trick-or-Treating Is a Must

“I’m a mom to an 8-year-old, so I love trick-or-treating,” Chabert shared. “My best Halloween memories as a kid were going out trick-or-treating. I did it as long as I possibly could. I think I was probably 16 still trick-or-treating.”

Pumpkin Paint or Carving?

“I personally am not great at carving pumpkins. So, we painted ours. Then we added little arts and crafts to them and made them our own,” Chabert said. “I find that the pumpkin does start to rot very quickly. So I’m into painting though. Julia [adds] stickers.”

‘Halloweentown’ on Repeat

When it comes to movies she plays in the background of a party — or watches throughout October — Chabert pointed to Halloweentown.

Kimberly J. Brown‘s my friend. Dear friend,” she said of the Disney Channel Original Movie’s leading lady, who plays Marnie. “So, Julia loves those movies.” (Brown costars alongside Chabert in Hallmark’s Haul Out the Halloween, which premieres Saturday, October 11, at 8 p.m. ET.)

The Nightmare Before Christmas, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Hocus Pocus are also a few seasonal favorites for the Hallmark actress.

Monster Munchies

Rice Krispie treats that “look like pumpkins” and “little mummies” thanks to “icing and little decorations” are a go-to for Chabert when it comes to grab-and-go party snacks. “I love a butternut squash soup and a really yummy pasta,” she added of her fall menu.

Adult Boos

“A pumpkin spice-inspired cocktail is fun for an adult beverage,” Chabert told Us. “Then for the kids, like, orange punch. Orange homemade punch. We always had homemade punch growing up with green sherbet.”

Chabert took it a step further, suggesting “creating your own perfect Halloween punch” as a DIY station, noting it’s “in the vein of a hot chocolate bar.”

Go With the Flow

“I have a list in my mind, which I always fail to actually write down. So, the list sometimes becomes a bit pointless,” Chabert told Us of her decorating style. “Sometimes I’m a little chaotic and all over the place, but at the end of the day, it’s all about the fun.”

She shared that with every celebration it’s about “not taking it too seriously” and creating a “fun environment with great music, a color scheme and delicious food.”

Have Christmas on Deck

While Chabert enjoys decorating for Halloween and every other holiday, she is the queen of Christmas — both on Hallmark Channel and in her home.

“Christmas is definitely the biggest thing to decorate for, like the most decorations and the thing I go most all out for. … Christmas is obviously, I’m all in,” she gushed, revealing that in her house, she starts to decorate for the winter holiday the “day after Halloween.”

Chabert teased, “The decorations are there waiting just to be put up.”
