Kanye West’s recent interview with Piers Morgan went off the rails in a matter of minutes.

West, 47, appeared on the Tuesday, May 6, broadcast of Morgan’s news program Uncensored alongside influencer Sneako. The pair sat down for the camera while in Majorca, Spain. Morgan asked the rapper, 60, how he was doing, prompting West to respond by encouraging the journalist to “judge” his wellbeing based on “the view.”

“The view is Majorca, I’ve been there. It’s a beautiful place, and for all intents and purposes, you seem very relaxed and happy. That is in direct contrast to your public image at the moment, over the last couple of years, led by your ferocious …” Morgan said as West began to interrupt him. “Well, hang on. Let me finish the question…”

West, for his part, fired back immediately.

“But I already disagree. It’s not in contrast — there’s so many people and artists that are championing the idea of someone being able to just express who they really are, and have been able to go through the war of being attacked by the banks, being attacked, you know, by the banks — that’s the best way to put it,” he retorted. “Being attacked by the banks, and to still be here with this view is, you know, that’s the win. So I think that’s — I’m in contrast to your contrast.”

Morgan then broached the topic of social media — specifically West’s X account. When Morgan pointed out West’s “32 million followers,” the musician pushed back, questioning how Morgan came up with that figure.

“Now, look, right now you’re not going to take inches off my d***, bro. Like, how many followers do I have?” he shot back.

Morgan’s staff then checked the number and he issued a correction.

Morgan was confused by West’s attitude and questioned him, “What are you talking about? I haven’t said anything?”

West accused Morgan of “not taking accountability or responsibility” and told him they could “circle back when you can count.” The musician subsequently took off his mic and stormed off screen.

“That’s it for Ye,” Sneako said. “Nice to meet you, Piers.”

After airing the interview, Morgan defended his decision to have West on the show and explained that he wanted to get some answers regarding the rapper’s many antisemitic social media posts.

“The reason I wanted to get him on was because I don’t think anyone holds him to account for anything he does on X, and in fact, he deliberately breaches all of X’s rules, and yet he does it with impunity and is allowed to do it, whereas millions of other accounts get suspended for far less offences,” he said. “So I was going to ask him directly, why I mentioned his X following, I was going to ask him about what he puts on X and why he does this? Why he continually attacks Jewish people, why he continually celebrates Adolf Hitler?”

In February, West made headlines for his social media rant that included antisemitic remarks and declared that he has “dominion” over his wife, Bianca Censori. Us Weekly reached out to West’s rep for comment at the time.
