Former Vice President Kamala Harris showed up to the glitzy Met Gala in New York City Monday night amid speculation that she is preparing for a political comeback.

The failed 2024 Democratic presidential nominee wore a custom black-and-white silk gown that featured a long scarf, statement sleeve and pleated skirt designed by Off-White Creative Director IB Kamara, according to Vogue.

Harris, 60, debuted the look in a portrait for Vogue Magazine, shot by former White House photographer Cameron Smith.

She was joined on the red carpet by her husband, former second gentleman Doug Emhoff, who wore a tux by Brunello Cucinelli, the fashion magazine added.

Rumors swirled that Harris, 60, would attend the annual gathering of the rich and famous, which is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, after the former veep and her husband were spotted leaving celeb hotspot The Polo Bar on East 55th Street on Sunday night.

Harris’ taxpayer-funded Secret Service detail, as well as NYPD officers and seven SUVS, were photographed flanking the couple and guarding the exclusive eatery as Harris and Emhoff mingled and posed for pictures with patrons inside.

The guest list to the gala is hyper-exclusive and controlled by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.

Wintour has donated more than $287,000 to Democratic candidates and causes since 2004, Federal Election Commission records show.

Met Gala tickets reportedly cost $75,000 for a single entry this year, up from $50,000 in 2024.

Harris’ appearance at the fashion event comes as she is widely assumed to be deciding between running for California governor in 2026 and seeking the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028.

Polling shows Harris is the runaway front-runner in both contests.

However, voters are split as to whether Harris should enter the Golden State governor’s race, according to an Emerson College Polling survey released last month, with 50% indicating that the failed 2024 Democratic presidential candidate should not jump into the fray.

The former veep has reportedly told allies she will make a decision about what she wants to do by the end of this summer, but has insisted, as Politico quoted her saying last month, “I’m staying in this fight.”

Last week, Harris emerged from political hibernation to deliver a stern rebuke of President Trump in her most extensive public remarks since losing the 2024 election.

Harris painted a dystopian view of America under Trump in her keynote address at Democratic political candidate incubator Emerge’s 20th anniversary gala in San Francisco.

The former California senator’s appearance at the 2025 Met Gala is her first at the swanky soiree.

Ella Emhoff, Harris’ stepdaughter, walked the Met Gala red carpet in 2021.

Emhoff, a model and the daughter of the former second gentleman, wore a bejeweled red bodysuit with sheer and billowy cherry-red pants at her Met debut.

Ella’s 2021 Met Gala appearance was overshadowed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who infamously turned heads wearing a white dress with “Tax the Rich” splattered in red at the event that year.
