PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — Humiliating.
That’s the word Justin Thomas used to describe his emotions after shooting a pair of 79s to miss the cut by a country mile at last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he finished dead last.
The 32-year-old Thomas, a two-time major champion and the 2021 winner of The Players Championship, can run hot with his emotions on occasion. Last week was no exception.
But he said earlier this week that he gave himself some “grace’’ following the mentally jarring return after missing some six months following microdiscectomy surgery on his back in November at New York Hospital for Special Surgery.
