Bill Belichick’s 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson has told at least one person that the couple is engaged, The Athletic reported Tuesday.
There were no further details about a potential marriage in the report, which delved into the drama surrounding the 73-year-old UNC coach and Hudson, a former cheerleader at Bridgewater State University.
The report comes after Hudson sparked engagement buzz when she was spotted with a ring on her left ring finger while at a luncheon with Belchick at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City last month.
“I think it’s ironic that a man who really controlled everything — and I mean everything — now is being controlled by some other person,” Upton Bell, a former general manager of the Patriots, told the outlet.
“You can’t just point at the woman here and say, ‘She is being controlling.’ That only happens if you let yourself be controlled.”
The news of Belichick and Hudson’s relationship broke last June — five months after his split with the Patriots in January after 24 years and six Super Bowl titles.
The couple have been at the center of a media firestorm after Belichick’s disastrous “CBS Sunday Morning” interview, which aired April 17 and showed Hudson stopping him from answering a question about how the couple met.
After that, multiple reports alleged Hudson is trying to control Belichick’s career both on and off of the field.
Hudson and Belichick did not agree to be interviewed by The Athletic.
Spokespeople for the Patriots, the NFL and the UNC’s athletic department declined to comment to the outlet.
