Jeremy Allen White has a pretty plausible explanation to all those photos of him carrying giant bouquets of flowers.
“I have this farmer’s market near my house, it’s on Sundays and I just love going there and I love flowers in my house,” White, 34, shared during his Thursday, June 26, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “It’s so strange though, it’s become this thing.”
Talk show host Jimmy Fallon jokingly asked White if he “worked at a florist” while showing off paparazzi photos of The Bear star holding the bouquets. (You know the ones, we’ve all seen the photos.)
“I saw a friend a couple weeks ago [who] I hadn’t seen in a while and we were catching up and she just goes, ‘Can I ask you something?’” White recalled. “She was like, ‘What’s up with the flowers?’ As if there was something sinister going on, that I was doing something strange with the flowers. I just like them.”
White continued, “I like them in the house. I like giving them to people. I arrange them with my daughters on Sunday. It’s a nice thing that we do.”
The Hulu star explained that the flowers are just “my thing,” with Fallon noting that “no one can take that from you.”
White shares daughters Ezer, 6, and Dolores, 4, with ex-wife Addison Timlin. (White and Timlin got married in October 2019. Us Weekly confirmed in May 2023 that she had filed for divorce.)
Since becoming a father, White has frequently gushed over his children in various interviews. Last year, the actor explained what it’s been like for the girls since The Bear took his celebrity status to new heights.
“It’s confusing and strange,” he told Entertainment Tonight in June 2024. “But they know about the show.”
Ezer and Dolores “haven’t seen the show” in full just yet, so they’re not exactly privy to the “chef” reference.
“Well my oldest, Ezzy, actually, she really enjoys the first, like, two minutes of the pilot episode, which is just me getting scared by a bear and then falling on my butt,” he said at the time. “She’ll ask to watch that a lot! But that’s all of the show she’s seen.”
Since the girls are still pretty young, White thinks it might be a few years before they binge the show.
“I don’t know if we’re even ready to have that conversation,” he said.
