Jayden Daniels didn’t escape Green Bay unscathed.

The Commanders quarterback suffered a knee sprain against the Packers, according to multiple reports on Monday, putting his status for a Week 3 matchup with the Raiders in question.

Daniels certainly took a beating in the 27-18 loss at Lambeau Field on Thursday night, getting hit 12 times and sacked four, while being held to just 17 rushing yards.

While the injury is not expected to be a long-term issue, it does potentially put Washington’s short-term future in the hands of backup QB Marcus Mariota, who hasn’t made a start since 2022 with the Falcons.

Mariota, the No. 2-overall pick in the 2015 draft, threw for 364 yards with four touchdowns in three relief appearances behind Daniels last season.

His potential absence would also remove another rushing weapon from the offense, which saw veteran Austin Ekeler exit the opener with a season-ending Achilles injury.

Daniels, 24, exploded onto the scene as a dual-threat rookie in 2024, leading the Commanders to a 12-5 record with 3,568 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions, adding 891 rushing yards and six scores on the ground.

In his first season, Washington won their first playoff game in 19 seasons, beating the Buccaneers and Lions, before falling to the Eagles in the NFC Championship game.

Through two starts this season, he’s thrown for 433 yards and three TDs, posting 85 rushing yards.

After falling to 1-1, Daniels kept an even keel.

“I wouldn’t expect anyone in this locker room to hit the panic button,” he said after the Green Bay loss. “We faced a really good team, and we came up short. So, we’re moving on to the next game.”

That may be as easy for the Commanders now as it was in the hours after Thursday’s loss.
