Jay Cutler has reportedly been released from a Tennessee jail after serving out his sentence following a 2024 DUI.

TMZ was first to report the news of Cutler’s release on Thursday, October 2. The site obtained records revealing that Cutler got out of a jail in Williamson County the night before.

Multiple outlets reported earlier this week that Cutler, 42, started what was supposed to be a four-day sentence on Monday, September 29. It’s unclear what led to his early release.

Us Weekly has reached out for confirmation and comment.

Cutler was arrested in October 2024 in Tennessee. Us confirmed at the time that he was charged with driving while intoxicated, gun possession while under the influence and violation of implied consent law and failure to exercise due care.

The retired NFL star rear-ended another car, and the police officer who interviewed Cutler at the scene “noticed a strong odor of alcohol,” according to a press release. (Cutler was later sued by the other driver involved in the collision.)

“Cutler was also slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes,” the release stated. “Cutler refused field sobriety tests and was taken to a local hospital where a blood sample was obtained through a blood search warrant.”

Two firearms were located in his truck, including “a loaded pistol,” per the release. Cutler was released from the Williamson County Jail following a $5,000 bond.

Cutler appeared in court this past August, pleading guilty to one count of misdemeanor DUI. The three other charges were dropped as part of Cutler’s plea deal. He was sentenced to four days in jail, ordered to pay a $350 fine, attend DUI classes and had his license revoked for a period of time. Cutler will serve one year on probation following his release.

Cutler has yet to publicly discuss the incident. However, his ex-wife, Kristin Cavallari, addressed Cutler’s DUI on her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast.

“Really quickly, just before we get into the episode, I wanted to hop on here and just let you guys know that this episode was recorded right before a very public incident happened last week with my ex-husband,” she said in an October 2024 episode. “Just keep that in mind as you’re listening.”

Cavallari, 38, made it clear she would “not be commenting” further on the incident.

“I do of course wish Jay nothing but the best, and I do hope that he gets the help that he needs,” she concluded. “But that’s the only thing that I will be saying about it publicly.”

Cutler and Cavallari — who share three kids, Camden, 13, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9 — were married for seven years before announcing their separation in 2020. The former couple finalized their divorce in 2022.

This past June, Cavallari explained to her podcast listeners why she tries to avoid talking about Cutler publicly.

“Every single interview I do, I get asked about my ex-husband,” she said. “And it’s like one of those situations where I feel like I can’t f***ing win because I try so hard to never talk about him. That is a deal breaker for me.”

The reality star added, “If I say one tiny, tiny little thing, then everyone goes, she never shuts the f*** up about her ex-husband. Oh, she’s still talking about it.”
