He stumbled and bumbled and still managed to score the game-winning touchdown.
Trevor Lawrence managed to find the end zone on a 1-yard touchdown run that started off looking like it would be a death blow with the clock ticking down, rather than a heroic effort in what ended up being a 31-28 victory for the Jaguars over the Chiefs on Monday night in Jacksonville.
The Jaguars QB tripped over one of his linemen’s feet on the snap on first-and-goal from the 1-yard line with just 30 seconds left in the game, and fell to the ground.
He quickly attempted to get back up, but couldn’t manage to get his footing and fell right back down.
Lawrence stayed with the play and managed to get up to his feet on his second effort just as a lane opened up on the left side.
He managed to break free of the grasp of Chiefs defensive tackle Jerry Tillery, setting himself up to dive into the end zone to give the Jaguars the lead with just 23 seconds left in the game.
“Just panic, sheer panic on the ground trying to [get up],” Lawrence told ESPN after the win. “We didn’t have any timeouts. Got stepped on coming out and I was like I gotta get up. I was just going to throw it out of bounds to stop the clock and there was really no one around me. So went and made a play.”

The comeback win extended the Jaguars’ win streak to three straight games and has them tied with the Colts for the top spot in the AFC South.
Lawrence threw for 221 yards and a touchdown and also ran for two scores to outduel Patrick Mahomes and drop the Chiefs to 2-3.
The surprise win capped off a weekend of shocking wins in the NFL, with Mac Jones leading the 49ers to a win over the Rams, the Broncos toppling the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles, and Drake May helping to lead the Patriots to a win over the then-unbeaten Bills.
