There are few beauty products that have sold out as quickly as The Outset’s Lip Oasis Glossy Treatment — not just once or twice, but seven times. This elusive balm has had TikTok in a chokehold, with people counting down the hours until the next drop, only for the online shelves to be cleared out in minutes. What gives?

Considering Scarlett Johansson spent four years developing the lippie, it must be something special. And after months of this Glossy Treatment slipping through my fingertips, I finally got a hold of the original, as well as the three new tinted hues. Let’s dive in!

Upon opening the box, I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. The tube seemed significantly smaller compared to my favorite Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm. (And I was correct, The Outset product holds 0.33 oz compared to Summer Fridays 0.5 oz). However, where The Outset lacks in size, it makes up for in effectiveness.

This downsized tube design is offset by a large, uniquely shaped applicator tip that’s meant to offer a more precise swipe. The rounded tip dispenses the perfect amount. While it comes out like honey, it feels ultra silky soft and not sticky in the slightest. I like how the tip glides the balm across my lips. All it takes is a few seconds for my pout to glisten like glass.

The formula isn’t weightless, per se, but it’s not uncomfortable either. I enjoy the cushiony feeling of it on my lips. It makes me believe that the deeply hydrating ingredients, like squalane and polyglycerides, are actually doing their job to fend off dryness and cracks.

Plus, I love how plump my lips look — no stinging or weird sensations involved. While a quick swipe of this balm doesn’t result in an over-the-top plumping effect, the nourishing formula does in fact make my lips look a tad fuller, even after the shine wears off.

I do enjoy the clear pick, although the tinted options give the original a run for its money. Each hue paints my pout in an elegant sheer wash that illuminates my complexion. I refuse to leave the house without applying a bit of ‘sun kiss,’ and while ‘mirage’ looks super pigmented in the tube, it complements my fair skin. Basically, you should worry about the tints selling out over the clear — don’t wait to pick up your favorite.

The Outset Lip Oasis Glossy Treatment may be pricey for a lip product, but it’s 100% worth it in my book. Do yourself a favor and pick up one (or two) before they inevitably sell out again!
