It wasn’t a hero’s welcome for Hollywood Hulk.
WWE legend Hulk Hogan made a surprise appearance this week at Netflix‘s “Monday Night Raw” in Los Angeles — but faced a sea of boos throughout his speech while he addressed the crowd.
The Hulkster, 72, entered the fan-packed Intuitive Dome in Inglewood to his classic walk-out song “Real American,” donning a shirt from his Real American Beer brand alongside his longtime on-screen manager Jimmy Hart.
Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, tried hyping up the unruly crowd by talking about his legacy in the wrestling business and crediting the fans as the “greatest tag team partner” he’s had in his lengthy career.
“You, the fans, have been my greatest tag team partner because you guys have stuck with me through thick and thin dudes,” Hogan said while being drowned out by boos.
The retired professional wrestler then promoted his Real American Beer brand.
“You know, I got a new tag team partner right now. I got Hulk Hogan’s Real American Beer that I’ve teamed up,” he shouted into the mic.
“And in the past, I’ve had a whole bunch of partners down the line. I’ve had incredible partners like ‘ooh ya’ the Macho Man Randy Savage. I’ve had giant-size partners, like Andre the Giant.”
However, the Hulkster told the crowd they were watching history in the making with the “greatest partner the WWE has ever had.”
“But the greatest partner the WWE has ever had, is the fact that tonight, we’re making history, and the WWE has tag teamed up with Netflix, the greatest tag team partner of all time,” Hogan said, still being loudly booed by the audience as he ended his speech to his iconic walkout music.
The WWE announced a multi-year partnership with “Real American Beer” in a press release just hours before Raw kicked off.
“Well, let me tell you something brother! From the first time I stepped into the ring, I’ve always fought for something bigger than myself,” Hogan said.
“I’m thrilled to bring Real American Beer into the ring with WWE. Together, we’re bringing that pride to America, one beer, one match at a time, brother!”
Hogan began his wrestling career in 1977.
By the early 1980s, he had become the face of the WWF (World Wrestling Federation), and his persona in the ring quickly made him an American icon.
During his career, he won the WWF Championship five times and was the first wrestler to win consecutive Royal Rumble matches in 1990 and 1991.
Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and again in 2020.
