Nick Morabito played a full minor league season of 118 games, then five in the Double-A playoffs as Binghamton won the Eastern League championship, then skipped a typical offseason so he could cram in a few more weeks worth of games in the Arizona Fall League.

Often the AFL is occupied by prospects who had missed time with injuries, but Morabito — who said he asked his agent to reach out to the Mets about his inclusion in the league, though the Mets already had wanted to send him — said he just loves playing baseball.

“It’s better than being at home and just lifting and hitting in the cage,” Morabito said over the phone this week.

It’s also one last chance to showcase his game for the Mets and 29 other teams before an important offseason.
