Golden Bachelor alum Kathy Swarts is all for April Kirkwood pursuing a connection with Jonathon Johnson.
“I love April. It was so great to see her. I really hadn’t seen her. We talked a few times since Golden [Bachelor],” Kathy, 72, exclusively told Us Weekly. “She’s beautiful. She’s fun. She’s engaging. She brings the fun to the party. You have to wait and see what happens. But why not? It’s April. You know what? We’re Golden. The clock is ticking. Let’s go.”
In the Tuesday, July 15, episode of Bachelor in Paradise, April, 67, hinted that she might be romantically interested in Jonathon, 28. As the pair were walking back to their rooms at night, April told Jonathon, “Second door to the right if you need me.”
Jonathon laughed at April’s remark in the moment before appearing confused in a confessional. “What the? What’d you just say?” Jonathon said. “My sweet, sweet April. I knew there was a lot of nature in Costa Rica, but I didn’t realize there were going to be so many cougars.”
After arguing with Jill Chin later in the episode, Jonathon noted that she was his “last shot” on the beaches of Costa Rica. When asked by a producer whether April was an “option” coming up to the rose ceremony, Jonathon replied, “Hm. In Paradise, there is no age limit. Why not see what could happen?”
While the episode left off on a cliffhanger with what happens to Jonathon and April, one of the beachgoers shared in the teaser, “I don’t know what kind of Paradise this is, but why are the oldies making out with the youngins?”
Kathy, for her part, remained tight-lipped about whether there was any potential age-gap romance on the show. “I guess if it’s said maybe it’s true or maybe it’s not,” she told Us. “We’re just gonna have to go with maybe.”
Kathy, meanwhile, appeared to be pursuing a relationship with someone in her generational lane. In the Tuesday episode, she selected Keith Gordon to accompany her in a trip to the VIP suite complete with champagne and strawberries — and in true Bachelor Nation style, a hot tub.
“Keith is this great guy who I had met before. He’d been on my podcast. I’m sure you remember, he raised three daughters on his own. He has this way about him, this kindness, this balance of humor and emotional IQ,” Kathy gushed. “He’s just a great guy and I thought, you know what, let’s see if there’s something else there. Give him a little champagne, a little sit down in a hot tub and let’s see where it goes.”
Bachelor in Paradise airs on ABC Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
