The FBI and Utah officials have released new footage of the person of interest involved in the Charlie Kirk fatal shooting, which shows the suspect fleeing from the scene.

The video was played at a press conference held by officials on Thursday, September 11, as the manhunt for Kirk’s killer continues.

In the footage, which has been shared by multiple media outlets, the suspect can be seen running across the roof of a building from where the fatal shot that struck Kirk at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10, was fired. The controversial political commentator was 31 when he died.

Officials at the press conference pointed out that the shooting suspect could be seen wearing a “distinctive” black t-shirt featuring an American flag and eagle as well as black pants. He was also wearing a baseball cap with a triangle, a pair of sunglasses and what appeared to be Converse shoes.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox said the footage has been released to the public in a bid to gather more information and tips from witnesses or anyone with more information.

He explained the hope is to “get as much attention as possible so that we can get help from the public in tracking down this evil human being.”

Authorities say they collected evidence such as shoe impressions, a forearm imprint and a palm print from the scene featured in the video.

During the press conference, Governor Cox told reporters that “forensic evidence” is currently being collected and processed and that there are plans to pursue the death penalty once the suspect is arrested.

“We are going to catch this person,” he said. “We’ve been working with our attorneys getting everything that we need, affidavits ready, so that we can pursue the death penalty in this case and that will happen here in the state of Utah.”

Authorities also warned against the slew of miscommunication circulating about the shooting online.

Earlier on Thursday, the FBI released photos of the suspect and offered a six-figure reward to anyone with information that could lead to the identification or arrest of the gunman.

“We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. 1-800-CALL-FBI,” a post shared via X read.

The post encouraged anyone with information to call the FBI or submit photos and video through an online form.
