President Trump’s border czar Tom Homan has accused the Biden administration and Democrats of having “sold” out the US “for future political power” by allowing millions of illegal migrants to stream into the country.
“They wanted to overwhelm the system … because they knew it’d be millions of people that they thought would be in their corner in the future,” Homan told Post columnist Miranda Devine on the latest episode of “Pod Force One,” out Wednesday.

“They sold this country out for future political power,” Homan added.
“There is no other reason why you would open a border. There’s no downside on a secured border. There’s only one reason you would do this: Because you saw a future political benefit in doing it.”
Under the Biden administration, millions of migrants poured across the border illegally, most of whom were released into the US — and into a badly backlogged immigration court system.
After taking office Jan. 20, the Trump administration immediately halted the problematic “catch-and-release” policy and began expelling migrants en masse after they crossed illegally into the US.
What followed was a historic drop in illegal crossings — with fewer than 10,000 migrants reported encountered each month between February and May.
Under the Biden administration, border agents were sometimes seeing 10,000 migrants cross the border in a single day.
“I’ve worked for six presidents, starting with Ronald Reagan,” Homan told Devine. “Every president I ever worked for took steps to secure the border. Even [Bill] Clinton, [Barack] Obama, took some steps. No one was more successful than President Trump. His success was unprecedented.
“But Joe Biden, I’ve said this many times, Joe Biden is the first president in the history of this nation who came in office and unsecured a border on purpose,” he added. “They opened it, they meant to
open it, and knew exactly they were doing.”
Many of the migrants flocked to sanctuary cities, like New York, which offered them free housing and other resources.

“I think part of it was, they thought there are all these people [who are] going to be future Democratic voters,” Homan said. “But I also think — when Biden came in and signed over nine executive orders abolishing everything we did on Trump 45, he also overturned the Trump census rule, which says basically illegal aliens [can’t] be counted in the census.
“So the man’s illegal aliens, being released in sanctuary cities like New York, will be counted in the next census, which is going to mean what? It means more seats in the House for the Dems. So they certainly saw a political benefit. There’s no other reason.”
The Big Apple says it has spent $3.12 billion on shelter, including hotel rooms, and related costs to house migrants since the crisis began in 2022.
“As the city’s shelter system was pushed to its limits following an influx of new arrivals, the Adams administration acted quickly and decisively to effectively address the crisis and acquire emergency shelter capacity to serve households in need,” a Department of Social Services/Homeless Services spokesman said recently.
“While the administration’s whole-of-government response to the crisis has significantly reduced the number of households living in shelter, the total shelter census still far exceeds pre-pandemic highs.”
