Tommy DeVito knows never to go against the family.

The New Jersey-raised backup quarterback bid the Giants farewell after being cut and claimed off waivers Wednesday by the New England Patriots.

“My journey with the New York Giants was more than football — it was about family, community, and a dream come true for a Jersey kid,” DeVito said in an Instagram post with Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” accompanying the video. “I’ll forever be grateful to the organization and fans who welcomed me with open arms. New York will always be home.

“Excited for this next chapter in New England!”

DeVito will be the third-string quarterback in New England behind starter Drake Maye and veteran backup Joshua Dobbs.

For the Giants, they opted to go with starter Russell Wilson, followed by veteran Jameis Winston and heralded first-round rookie Jaxson Dart.

The finger-wagging Italian had a memorable time with the Giants during an otherwise unremarkable time in Giants history.

Big Blue is 9-25 (.264 win percentage) in the last two years, the second-worst record in the NFL, ahead of only DeVito’s new team in the Patriots (8-26).

DeVito, who attended high school in the Garden State at football powerhouse Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) enjoyed legitimate success with the Giants.

He went 3-5 record in eight career starts, but provided memorable moments in the 2023 season that helped make him a fan favorite.

DeVito starred for the Giants during an upset 24-22 win over the Packers on Dec. 11, 2023, where he led an unbelievable fourth-quarter comeback drive during “Monday Night Football” at MetLife Stadium.

The Packers ultimately made the playoffs and trounced the Cowboys before nearly defeating the eventual NFC champion 49ers the following week.

While the Patriots surely hope that DeVito hardly ever plays for them besides in mop-up scenarios when they are in blowouts, he is capable of holding down the fort if need be.

New England figures to compete for a division title in the near future behind their clear franchise quarterback in Maye.
