South Carolina assistant football coach Travian Robertson was hospitalized after being involved in a car crash Friday, the team announced.

Robertson suffered a serious leg injury in the accident, according to ESPN.

He is in stable condition.

“We expect him to make a full recovery and be back out on the field soon,” the team said in a statement. “Please keep the families of those involved in the accident in your prayers and respect the Robertson family’s privacy during this time.”

Robertson, 36, joined the Gamecocks staff in 2023 and currently serves as the team’s defensive line coach under head coach Shane Beamer.

He previously played at South Carolina as a defensive tackle under Steve Spurrier and was drafted by the Falcons in the seventh round in 2012.

He was the Gamecocks’ captain in 2011 and earned SEC All-Academic honors.

Robertson spent two years with Atlanta before short stints with the Seahawks and Washington.

He appeared in 13 games in his NFL career, recording five total tackles.

He then was a defensive line coach at Albany State, Georgia State and Tulane before returning to South Carolina as an assistant.

South Carolina opens the 2025 season with a neutral site game against Virginia Tech next Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

The Gamecocks enter the season No. 13 in the preseason AP poll.

They finished last year 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the SEC.
