Former Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was reportedly stabbed early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis and is in stable condition after being hospitalized.
Sanchez, 38, was in the city to broadcast the Colts’ game against the Raiders for Fox on Sunday.
“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” Fox Sports said in a statement. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”
While it’s unclear what led to the incident, police were called around 12:30 a.m. regarding two injured people, according to TMZ, which first reported the stabbing.
Sanchez, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, spent four seasons with the Jets before also appearing in games for Philadelphia, Dallas and Washington.
