Mike McDaniel is known for giving some zany answers to questions in press conferences, and he didn’t disappoint when it came to a query over whether he trolled Bills fans after the Dolphins shocked Buffalo in a 30-13 upset on Sunday.
A photo appeared on social media allegedly showing McDaniel driving by the Elbo Room, a well-known joint in Fort Lauderdale that is a Bills stronghold in South Florida, after the game on Sunday.
The car matched the one McDaniel drives, and the person behind the wheel shares a striking resemblance to the Dolphins coach — he’s also known to live in the area.
Naturally, McDaniel was asked about it when he spoke with reporters on Monday.
The reporter who brought up the topic asked if that was really him or if the photo was artificial intelligence, which set up the Dolphins coach to have some fun behind the podium.
“That’s why I like the good ‘ole days, the throwbacks of yore, where you could trust the Internet and the images, because that is pretty detailed,” McDaniel said. “I do live in that area, but I mean, AI, right?”
After McDaniel gave his eccentric answer, he was asked directly if it was him or not.
“I mean, I live in that area, AI is real. That’s what I got for you,” he said.
The media and fans were the only ones to take note of the photo.
Injured Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill had some fun with it, too, taking to his own social media account to comment on it.
“I see coach back on that pettt dog s–t I love it,” Hill wrote with three laughing emojis included.
Considering that McDaniel has been on the hot seat, the moment of levity was surely welcomed by the Dolphins coach.
He gave a rousing expletive-filled speech after the upset win.
Miami is 3-7 and has already fired long-time general manager Chris Grier.
