When you sleep as well as Dakota Johnson, perhaps it’s best to prepare for some wild dreams.
“I actually had a dream the other night,” Johnson, 35, shared on the Tuesday, June 10, episode of the “Good Hang With Amy Poehler” podcast. “Matty Healy from The 1975 was in my dream and he was murdering people, and he was Matty Healy as himself. When the people were looking for him — they were cops, maybe. I don’t know — he would turn into a piece of asparagus.”
But wait, the plot twists are just getting started.
“I was trying to find him, and I’m like, ‘Matty, Matty,’” she recalled. “I saw these two poles and a bed and I was like, ‘Matty?’ and the sheets came down and it was him as an asparagus and Angelina Jolie as an asparagus. They were getting married and they left in a helicopter together as asparagus.”
When she recounted the dream to ex Chris Martin, the Coldplay singer seemed totally intrigued.
“Chris was like, ‘That’s a really good pitch for a movie,’” Johnson said.
(On Wednesday, June 4, news broke that Martin, 48, and Johnson had split after nearly eight years together. It’s unclear when the podcast episode was taped.)
Although host Amy Poehler found the “weird-ass dream” hilarious, she also playfully joked that maybe her guest is getting a little too much sleep these days.
“To get to dreams, you have to get to sleep,” Poehler, 53, shared. “Most people don’t dream. They don’t sleep well enough to dream, which is really sad.”
Johnson replied, “That is really sad.”
In December 2023, the Fifty Shades of Grey actress made headlines when she said sleep was her “No. 1 priority in life” and that she “can easily go 14 hours.”
One month later, she clarified her sleep schedule to Jimmy Fallon, explaining that she “could easily” sleep for that long but doesn’t “demand it.”
“I’m not a monster,” she said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I have a job.”
In her latest podcast interview, Johnson also set the record straight on just how much sleep she gets.
“If I am not working, somewhere between 10 and 13 hours,” she said. “Ten is normal for me.”
For those hoping to get on Johson’s level of rest, the actress said she loves to unwind with a nice bath whenever possible.
“I will get in a bathtub at any moment, any time of the day,” she explained to the Wall Street Journal. “If in the middle of the day, I’m like, ‘Oh, God, what is this world?’ I’ll get in the bathtub.”
