Chet Holmgren left Oklahoma City’s game against the Golden State Warriors early after taking a hard fall onto the court while trying to contest a layup by Andrew Wiggins.

Holmgren did not return to the game, with the Thunder saying he missed the rest of the 127-116 loss Sunday due to a right hip injury.

Holmgren clearly could be seen falling hard on his right hip, and the Thunder big man was clearly in pain as he lay under the basket.

No foul was called on the play.

Trainers quickly came out to the floor in order to assess Holmgren, and he was eventually helped off the court not being able to put any weight on his right leg.

Holmgren was taken directly to the Thunder locker room as fans gave him a standing ovation while he left the floor.

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault did not have an update on Holmgren’s status after the game, ESPN reported.

He finished the game with four rebounds and shot 0-for-3 from the field.

Holmgren had entered Sunday night’s game averaging 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks for the Thunder.

The 22-year-old had been a runner-up for NBA Rookie of the Year last season and was the second overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

Sunday’s loss for the Thunder was just their second in the young NBA season, and they’ll turn their focus to the Clippers, who they will host in Oklahoma City on Monday.
