Not only will the Giants face a CeeDee Lamb inspired by his game-changing drops last week, but the Cowboys star receiver also has revenge on his mind.
Lamb said he’s got something special in store for Dru Phillips after alleging the Giants cornerback injured him last season.
“He tackled me and hurt me, so I’ve got something for him,” Lamb said Thursday. “For sure.”
Lamb suffered a right shoulder injury last Thanksgiving during the Cowboys’ 27-20 win in Dallas when Phillips tackled him to the ground without the ball.
The star receiver rolled over in pain before exiting the game for good.
The injury marked a re-aggravation of a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 9 against the Falcons, and Lamb’s season ultimately ended after Week 16 due to the nagging issue.
“My shoulder is out of whack. I’m not even gonna lie to you,” Lamb said after a Week 16 win over the Buccaneers. “I’m just out there battling and doing what I gotta do.”
Sunday will mark the first game between the Giants and Cowboys since that holiday clash, and Lamb clearly believes he has some unfinished business with the Giants’ second-year defensive back.
Lamb already had a chip on his shoulder entering this game after costing his team a potential upset win in Week 1 with at least three drops and failing to haul in a pass on what proved to be the Dallas’ last offensive snap in the 24-20 loss to the Eagles in Philadelphia.
“Us as a team, we got to ultimately just play right,” Lamb said. “Play together, make the routine plays, make the plays that come to us. I’m speaking for myself as well. The opportunity that presented itself, obviously I fell short of it a couple times and I know I’ll be prepared for that moment next time.”
The Cowboys are 4.5-point favorites at FanDuel in a battle of 0-1 teams, with both the Giants and Cowboys looking to avoid losing back-to-back division games to start the season.
