Bravo fan Seth Rogen is weighing in on Jax Taylor’s future on The Valley.
The Platonic star, 43, told People in an interview published Thursday, July 31, that he agrees with Jax’s decision to sit out The Valley season 3 amid his sobriety journey and acrimonious divorce from estranged wife Brittany Cartwright.
While Jax, 46, has described his absence from the next season as a “pause,” Rogen doesn’t think he should return at all.
“I don’t think Jax should come back at this point,” the actor and comedian said. “He’s a pretty, maybe just bad person. We can say that he’s been that way for 20 years on television or however long it’s been — he doesn’t seem like he’s going to change. He seems no better. Maybe he seems worse the older he gets, I think, in a lot of ways.”
Rogen said he watched the first episode of The Valley season 2 reunion, which aired on Tuesday, July 29, and thought Jax’s behavior was “f***ed up.” During the episode, Brittany, 36, accused Jax of body-shaming her and alleged that he “threw me into the rose bushes” during a particularly heated exchange. (He denied Brittany’s claim.)
“What a f***ing a**hole. Yeah, a very bad, bad, bad character. Yeah,” Rogen commented.
Jax announced in an exclusive statement to Us Weekly on July 16 that he was “stepping away” from The Valley “after an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers.”
He continued, “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.”
A week later, Jax said on his “In the Mind of Jax Taylor” podcast that the move isn’t permanent.
“Myself, my team [and] the producers got together [and] we decided to take a break from season 3. This is not goodbye. This is kind of just a pause on things,” Jax revealed. “The more I talked about it with everybody, it just didn’t seem to make a lot of sense for me to walk right back into filming right away.”
“I think everybody’s OK with me stepping away at this time. I hope … they miss me a little bit, or I can rekindle somebody’s relationships that I’ve screwed up,” he added. “That’s kind of where I’m headed. I want to fix a lot.”
For now, Jax said he is focusing on finalizing his divorce, as well as taking care of his mental health and sobriety. (Jax revealed he had a cocaine addiction in March.)
“Right now, my recovery is very important to me,” the Vanderpump Rules alum said. “To kind of catch you guys up on things as far as the drugs and the alcohol goes, that’s under control, believe it or not, that it’s all under control. I have no issues with that anymore.”
