While Brad Pitt is gearing up to promote his upcoming movie, F1, about the Formula One circuit, he is clearing up speculation that the promo actually started via his public debut with girlfriend Ines de Ramon nearly a year ago.

“No, dude, it’s not that calculated,” Pitt, 61, quipped in a GQ profile published on Wednesday, May 28, hinting it was a coincidence that the twosome made their first real appearance at a car race. “If you’re living … oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you’re living with making those kinds of calculations? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve.”

Pitt and de Ramon, 32, made their public debut at the British Grand Prix in July 2024. The pair then made their first red carpet appearance together at the Venice International Film Festival that September to celebrate the premiere of his movie Wolfs.

Pitt’s romance with de Ramon is his first since he and ex-wife Angelina Jolie finalized their divorce.

“I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” Pitt told GQ of settling their years-long divorce battle. “Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”

Pitt was married to Jolie, now 49, from 2014 to 2016 after a decade of dating. As they battled for custody of their minor children — Pitt and Jolie are parents of six — and ownership of their French winery, they were declared legally single in November 2019.

Pitt and Jolie eventually settled the eight-year proceedings in December 2024.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time, she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” Jolie’s lawyer James Simon told Us Weekly in a statement. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

A source told Us earlier this year that de Ramon encouraged Pitt to settle his divorce.

“Ines [wants] Brad to find peace, forgive and move on,” the insider said in January. “From her perspective, it doesn’t make sense for him to hold on to all the animosity.”

According to the source, de Ramon was hopeful that her calm demeanor would help him “patch things up” with Jolie.

“Being with her has brought new meaning to his life. Brad can’t rave enough about how madly in love he is,” the source added to Us. “They complement each other.”

While Pitt had seldom spoken about his romance with de Ramon or his divorce at length, he noted to GQ that he is “really happy” at the moment.
