Former President Joe Biden and his wife Jill recently adopted two puppies from a Tennessee rescue – replacing the aggressive dogs they had rehomed after repeated attacks on White House personnel.

Rescue DOG, a Mountain City, Tenn.-based pet sanctuary, announced the Bidens adoption of the two black Labrador mixes in a social media post on Wednesday, which included an image of the former president and first lady posing with their new pups and cat, named Willow.

“These two Johnson County pups were adopted together yesterday by the Biden family,” read a Facebook post from Rescue DOG.

The pet rescue noted that one of the seemingly rambunctious pups would “not sit still for the photo shoot.”

“We are thrilled for these two pups who were once abandoned on the mountain,” Rescue DOG added.

The organization explained that Jill and “her son” – presumably stepson Hunter Biden – first met the two pups after a visit to one of the group’s rescue partners in Delaware.

Melissa Gentry, who runs Rescue DOG, told Mountain City newspaper The Tomahawk that she was stunned to learn the Biden family adopted the puppies.

“The group that we transport with called us and said, ‘Are you sitting down,’ and I said, ‘No, but what have I done,’ They said, ‘You won’t believe who just adopted two of your puppies,’” Gentry recalled. “And my first thing I did was started laughing because I thought she was joking … it just blew my mind.”

Joe Biden has previously owned German shepherds, two of which were involved in a number of White House biting incidents.

Commander was given away in February 2023 after dozens of attacks on Secret Service agents and other White House personnel. At least two incidents involving Commander – one at the White House and another at Biden’s beach home in Delaware – were severe enough that the victims needed to be taken to hospitals.

Commander’s predecessor, Major, was rehomed in 2021 after also attacking personnel.

Biden’s office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
