Benji Madden and Joel Madden made rare comments about their respective wives, Cameron Diaz and Nicole Richie, during a recent interview.

The Good Charlotte duo appeared on Rob Lowe’s “Literally!” podcast on Thursday, March 27, and the trio discussed how they are all married to “these forces of nature.” The men even joked that they have “a healthy fear” of their wives.

“I don’t know if I ever thought someone could, like, keep me,” Joel, 46, said. “I don’t know how I felt about it. I was a relationship guy. But then I met Nicole, and she absolutely runs the show, but we are partners.”

He added of Richie, 43, “There’s a whole part of my life that would not work if she wasn’t there running it. She gave me a way deeper, more richer life because of the aspects of my life that she oversees, she runs.”

Joel called his wife “strong,” as well. “I respect her and fear her a little bit,” he added. Benji, 46, agreed with his twin brother, saying that he felt the same way about Diaz, 52.

“That’s the queen,” Benji added. “Go against my wife? Good luck. I don’t even need to get involved.”

Benji also referred to Diaz as a “ride or die” elsewhere in the episode.

“I met Cameron, and I was like, ‘Wow, I’ve never met anyone like her.’ I can count on her,” he said. “When you say ride or die, that’s it. Nicole’s the same way.”

Benji continued, “Something clicks inside of you, you say, ‘You would go to hell and back with me.’ You’re a ride or die. I think that’s the only kind of person you can build a lifetime with.”

Both Benji and Joel said that Diaz is also their “first call” if they’re ever “stuck in some bad situation.”

For his part, Lowe, 60, has been married to wife Sheryl Berkoff since 1991. They share two sons, Matthew, 32, and John Owen, 29.

Joel, meanwhile, married Richie in 2010. They are parents to daughter Harlow, 17, and son Sparrow, 15. Benji married Diaz in 2015, and they share daughter Raddix, 5, and son Cardinal, 12 months.

“I think it’s a lot for all three of our wives to actually see us. They can see anyone they want, right? But they actually see us,” Benji noted. “They see through whatever anyone else thinks of us — the real us when the world ain’t watching, they see us.”
