Ava Phillippe is celebrating her “phenomenal” mom, Reese Witherspoon, on her 49th birthday.
Phillippe, 25, shared a rare throwback photo via Instagram Stories on Saturday, March 22, of her toddler self and Witherspoon cuddling amid fall foliage. “Happy Happy Birthday to this phenomenal woman I’m lucky to call my mama,” she wrote over the photo. “Love you so so much.”
She also posted a more recent picture of Witherspoon enjoying what looked to be an espresso martini by the beach.
Witherspoon shares Ava and son Deacon, 21, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, whom she filed for divorce from in 2006 after seven years of marriage. She also shares son Tennessee, 12, with ex-husband Jim Toth, whom she split from in March 2023 after nearly 12 years of marriage.
Witherspoon has a special bond with her kids, and recently walked the red carpet with son Deacon at the 2024 Blink Twice premiere in support of friend and director Zoë Kravitz. Last January, Deacon even accompanied his famous mom to the 2024 Golden Globes.
That same month, Ava and Witherspoon attended the Fendi show during Paris Haute Couture Week and wore mother-daughter matching accessories.
“January in Paris 🍷❄️🖼️,” Witherspoon shared via Instagram alongside snaps of their time in Paris.
Many celebrity friends of Witherspoon’s shared well wishes on her birthday as well, with Jennifer Garner posting a photo of the pair via Instagram Stories and writing, “Happy birthday to my favorite, most supportive boss lady friend.” Octavia Spencer also shared an Instagram Story for Witherspoon, writing, “Happiest of happy birthdays to you @reesewitherspoon!”
Kerry Washington added a birthday note,posting a photo of herself and Witherspoon and writing, “Happy Birthday QUEEN @reesewitherspoon!!!!! You’re a powerhouse and a beautiful, brilliant friend I don’t know what I’d do without ❤️love you sooooooo much RW! Xo KW.”
Witherpoon reposted a lot of the birthday tributes via Instagram Stories, writing notes back to her family members and friends who took the time to celebrate her.
“You’re the best sister and co-anchor there is,” she wrote to her Morning Show costar Jennifer Aniston, who called Witherspoon a “source of Vitamin D” in a birthday post on Instagram Stories Saturday.
