The Kardashians may have dominated the letter “K” for names in their family, but A$AP Rocky and Rihanna are sinking their claws into the letter “R” for their brood.
Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday, May 7, Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) was asked about potential baby names for the couple’s third child.
Earlier this week during Monday’s Met Gala, the rapper, 36, and Rihanna, 37, revealed they were expecting baby number three. The couple are already parents to RZA, 2, and Riot, 22 months.
Meyers congratulated Rocky on the exciting news, before asking about the plans surrounding the baby’s moniker.
“Your first two kids have ‘R’ names, obviously you and Rihanna have ‘R’ names,” Meyers, 51, said. “Is this a lock that the third will have an ‘R’ name, do you think?”
Confirming that was the plan, Rocky replied, “For sure.”
Us Weekly confirmed on Monday, May 5 that the “Umbrella” singer is expecting baby No. 3. Later in the evening, Rihanna confirmed the news via a photo shared by photographer Miles Diggs (a.k.a. Diggzy).
Rocky told The Associated Press the same day how happy he is that he no longer has to keep the pregnancy news under wraps.
“It feels amazing, you know. It’s time that we show the people what we was cooking up. And I’m glad everybody’s happy for us ’cause we definitely happy, you know,” he told the outlet.
Rihanna and Rocky were friends for years before confirming their romance in 2021. Last year, the “Diamonds” artist opened up about their plans for more kids after welcoming RZA and Riot in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
“[I’ll have] as many kids as God wants me to have,” she told Elle in April 2024. “I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”
Rocky previously praised Rihanna as being the “perfect person” to have children with in an August 2024 interview with Billboard, where he opened up about how they juggled demanding careers with parenthood.
“It’s crazy how we find balance with our chaotic schedules,” he told the outlet, adding that it was helpful that they both work in the same industry.
“[The relationship] is going great,” he said. “I don’t think there’s a more perfect person because when the schedules are hectic, she’s very understanding of that. And when the schedule’s freed up, that’s when you get to spend [the] most time together. It’s all understanding and compatibility.”
