Ariana Grande is the queen of tweed.

Grande, 31, mastered the art of textured fabric while wearing a Chanel mini dress at the Academy Women’s Luncheon — which was presented by the French fashion house — in Los Angeles on Tuesday, December 10.

For the soirée, she showed off just the right amount of skin in a plunging dress straight off the rack from the Pre-Spring 2025 collection, featuring a black-and-white pattern and pockets adorned with pearl beads.

The singer styled the frock with sheer black tights and black Chanel pointed-toe heels. For glamorous good measure, Grande added just the right amount of sparkle with diamond rings and earrings from the Chanel Coco Crush collection.

Grande drew extra attention to her eyes with flirty eyelashes and soft eyeshadow, which certainly captured our attention. The rest of her makeup included pink lips, contoured cheeks and a dash of highlighter on the tip of her nose.

At the event, Grande sat next to Selena Gomez, who also wore a tweed ensemble. The ladies, who reminded Us of BFFs Cher Horowitz Dionne Davenport from the 1995 movie Clueless, wrapped their arms around each other while posing for the cameras.

Gomez, for her part, looked effortlessly chic in a Chanel black dress, also from the brand’s Pre-Spring line, featuring a white collar and matching cuffs.

That same day, Gomez opened up to Billboard about bonding with Grande over their shared Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress, which was announced one day prior.

“Ariana texted me and it was the sweetest note, and it was about six in the morning,” she said. “We sent each other voice messages. It was very exciting.” (Grande is nominated for her role as Glinda in Wicked, while Gomez is up for her part as Jessi Del Monte in Emilia Pérez. The Golden Globes are set to take place on January 5.)

Here’s hoping we see more winning examples of women empowering other women in the acceptance speeches at the forthcoming Golden Globe Awards.
