Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are taking the next step together three years after news broke of their controversial romance.

“We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged and we’ve been engaged for just about a month now,” Robach, 52, said on the Tuesday, October 14, episode of the iHeartRadio “Amy & TJ” podcast.

Holmes, 48, added, “We wanted to let you all know before anybody else was able to; we’ve learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship.”

Holmes shared that Robach had worn her engagement ring in public, around “crowds of tens of thousands of people” and “in everyone’s face,” but “nobody said a word.”

“I was in three massive football stadiums three weekends in a row, wearing my engagement ring very proudly, very excitedly, kept waiting for somebody to point it out or ask me, ‘Hey, what’s that?’ And it never happened,” Robach said, as Holmes teased, “We haven’t been keeping it a secret, but nobody’s asked!”

News broke of the former GMA3 cohosts’ relationship in late 2022, while Robach and Holmes were married to Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig, respectively. Us Weekly broke the news in January 2023 that the couple were officially axed from their jobs at ABC amid the scandal.

Earlier this year, a source exclusively told Us that an “engagement is coming” for Robach and Holmes.

“It’s been in the works for a while,” the insider shared in June, teasing that a proposal could happen “any day” and would probably be announced on their podcast “when the time is right.”

Robach and Holmes’ wedding wouldn’t be “flashy,” the source said, noting that the couple would invite their exes Fiebig and Shue — who are now dating.

“How they got together is not traditional, so they want the engagement and wedding this time around to be their own style — modest and simple,” the insider said. “They want to share their vows in front of the closest people who matter to them to demonstrate how much they love each other and are committed to each other.”

One month before announcing their engagement, Robach and Holmes got candid about the possibility of expanding their family. (Robach shares daughters Ava and Annalie with Shue. Holmes, meanwhile, shares kids Brianna and Jaiden with ex-wife Amy Ferson and daughter Sabine with Fiebig.)

“I don’t know what’s going on, but we have talked more lately about having kids. We have talked more lately about the idea of even adopting a child and usually it’s me bringing it up to you,” Holmes told Robach on their “Amy & T.J.” podcast in September. “Usually the response is the one you all just heard. She laughs at me. She’s laughing at me.”

Robach shared that the idea amused her because she was told she’s “out of the baby making business” after her breast cancer battle. (Robach was diagnosed in 2013 and underwent eight rounds of chemotherapy and a breast reconstruction surgery before being declared cancer-free.)

“I do chuckle, because yes, that was a painful thing to hear at 40. But I have come to peace with it and am very happy to have had two children,” Robach said. “I’m saying this genuinely — my girls have now gone off — but to have Sabine around is joy. I absolutely totally appreciate and actually really look forward to and love having that childlike, that sweetness around. It’s awesome.”

Holmes, for his part, noted that the idea of having their “own family” is something he can “relate to.” He added, “It’s not even a matter of watching you and your girls, you watching me with mine. It’s just really a matter of when you are with you can’t help but want to create your own unit. And yes, those units sometimes come from other pieces and places coming together, but you can have them.”
