Amy Duggar King and her husband, Dillon King, are still searching for answers about his health following recent medical concerns.

“We found out that he was in a lot of pain, like, a ton of pain, to the point where he was just sitting down,” Amy, 38, revealed in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly before releasing her memoir, Holy Disruptor: Shattering the Shiny Facade by Getting Louder With the Truth. “He couldn’t golf. He couldn’t do a lot of things that he loved for a while.”

The couple, who have been married since 2015, saw “doctor after doctor after doctor,” and after “several tests,” they learned Dillon has celiac disease.

“I’ve been poisoning him for 10 years straight [with] pastries and bread and pizza and all the things,” Amy teased. “Meanwhile, the acid was, like, burning through his intestines.”

Dillon’s symptoms are so “severe” that they caused a “rupture in his diaphragm.” According to Amy, the pair have taken steps to keep the pain at bay.

“We’ve changed his diet, clearly, I’m done with all the things, and he’s doing a lot better,” she told Us. “He’s not in as much pain. He’s doing a lot better, but it is something we’re still monitoring and trying to figure out the next steps, because more than likely he will need surgery at some point.”

Amy previously revealed Dillon’s health battle while celebrating his birthday in April. “Y’all I adore this man! Dax has the best dad on the planet and he’s so loved by so many family and friends!” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “Normally we’d be celebrating in a huge way but currently we are facing some possible life threatening medical concerns. Today I’d like to ask for some prayers on his behalf. I know God has him, but we welcome the prayers!! I can’t think of a better gift for him!”

The 19 Kids and Counting alum reassured her husband in the caption that the two of them “can get through anything together.”

Later that month, Amy explained that the diaphragmatic rupture “has caused vital organs, including his kidney and parts of his digestive system, to shift into his chest cavity.”

“He’s still functioning, still human, still alive,” Amy clarified to Us. “But we’re monitoring it and just making sure that he is going to be OK and healthy. But I mean, we don’t have a lot of answers as of right now.”

Amy pointed out, however, that Dillon is “not in as much pain … so it’s a good thing.”

In her memoir, Holy Disruptor, Amy looks back on the beginning of her love story with her now-husband. The couple, who share 5-year-old son Daxton, recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.

“10 years. One ‘yes’ turned into a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure,” Dillon gushed via Instagram in September. “From the moment I proposed, to saying ‘I do,’ to welcoming our son Daxton — and every messy, beautiful, joy-filled moment in between — these years have been the best gift. Here’s to a decade of us, and the forever still to come. Happy anniversary babe @amyrachelleking #10YearsMarried #TheKings.”
