Pittsburgh Steelers fans have one of Aaron Rodgers’ new family members to thank for him joining the team.

“I was taking orders from my (new) sister-in-law, Mia,” Rodgers, 41, recently told The Athletic of how he was convinced to take a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Pennsylvania-based team. “She’s 20 and she’s the brains of the family; you just have to ask her.”

The quarterback laughed and continued, “No — but that is partially serious, for sure. Every team that I talked to, I said, ‘Listen, if I play, I’m not going to take a ton of money. I’ve made a ton of money. I don’t need the money.’”

Rodgers gained Mia as a sister-in-law when he married his wife, whose identity has not been publicly revealed, sometime in the last few months. He confirmed the marriage during a meeting with reporters at Steelers minicamp on June 10 after he was photographed with a mysterious black band on his left ring finger.

“It’s a wedding ring,” he said with a smile.

While Rodgers has yet to reveal the name of his wife, he shared during an appearance on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show in December 2024 that he had been dating a woman named Brittani.

“Not Britney Spears, this is Brittani with an I,” he said at the time. “It’s a good feeling, boys.”

Fans who are hoping for Rodgers to share any more information about his spouse are likely not going to get answers anytime soon. He slammed the public’s speculation about his relationship during a June 24 appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

“It’s a sick society, isn’t it? It’s a sick society,” he said. “I lived in the public eye for 20 years. I had public relationships. How did that work out?”

The NFL star was previously engaged to Shailene Woodley in February 2021 and dated Olivia Munn and Danica Patrick in the past.

“Didn’t want that. Didn’t like any of that,” Rodgers continued. “And now I’m with somebody who’s private, who doesn’t want to be in the public eye. Didn’t sign up to be a celebrity. Doesn’t want to be a part of it. Because I do things in private, because I want my personal life to be private, now I’m weird.”

Rodgers said the “entitlement” to information about his marriage was “so f***ing ridiculous and embarrassing.”

“Stop making s*** up,” he added. “My private life is my private life. It’s gonna stay that way. I’m with somebody who wants to be private. If and when she wants to be out and there’s a picture, she’ll choose that. She deserves a right to that.”

Rodgers also said that his wife “doesn’t have social media,” and he’s not planning on “making a loving post on Instagram” any time soon.

“Look, you wanna do that, that’s fine,” Rodgers said. “That’s your own prerogative. I don’t care. That’s just not what I want to do. I don’t want to be a part of any of that.”

Though he has no plans to share the identity of his wife, Rodgers has still gushed about her and the joy that their marriage has brought him.

“You know, when you meet the right one and you’re with the right one your whole world changes in a second. And to have that person that unconditionally loves you behind the scenes — there’s no better feeling in the world,” Rodgers said in a July interview with NFL Network’s Good Morning Football host Kyle Brandt. “I got the most incredible wife. I just really love her and I’m just so thankful to have her by my side in the end.”
