Observations from Jets training camp on Monday.

One shining moment

During a day of offensive ineptitude, Aaron Rodgers did produce one highlight. He lowered his arm angle, using a sidearm throw to get a pass around C.J. Mosley’s hands to Garrett Wilson.

False step

Just about everything on offense was ugly, including the starting offensive line unit. They allowed two would-be sacks to Will McDonald, and new right tackle Morgan Moses committed a false start penalty during team drills.

Max Mitchell subsequently replaced him on the field.

Caught my eye

Edge rusher Jermaine Johnson chucked a water bottle roughly 30 yards toward the end of practice, clearly upset.

Robert Saleh said Johnson was annoyed he didn’t call a sack on the play before, and Saleh joked he almost never does unless it’s overly obvious.

Rodgers report

For much of the afternoon, it wasn’t even clear who Rodgers was targeting on his throws. He went a brutal 11-for-27, including five straight incompletions, with an interception.

Injury report

Cornerback Michael Carter (ankle) is day-to-day and will be reevaluated at the end of the week. CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse (groin) and safety Isaiah Oliver (undisclosed) will be sidelined for the rest of training camp, though Saleh said they should be ready for Week 1.

DT Leki Fotu (hamstring) is also out for the rest of camp. WR Irv Charles should return to practice soon, perhaps even on Tuesday. Jeremy Ruckert (concussion) returned to practice, albeit in a red non-contact jersey.
