King Charles and Trump erupt in laughter as they inspect royal guards: ‘Watch the sword’

His Majesty’s got your back, Mr. President.

King Charles III and President Trump erupted in laughter Wednesday as they ceremoniously inspected the royal Guard of Honour on Windsor Castle’s quadrangle.

Trump stood just inches away from a uniformed officer who led him and the king down the walkway, with the guard slicing the air near the US president as he maneuvered his sword.

“Watch the sword,” Charles, 76, told Trump, 79, prompting the longtime friends to share a laugh.

After the quip, Charles scooted himself forward to talk with Trump, with the monarch pointing out several details of the ceremony and the president appearing amused by the spectacle. 

The two leaders then walked side-by-side as they chatted before ducking under a tent laid out for them outside Windsor Castle. 

The president and first lady, Melania Trump, arrived in the UK Tuesday evening for a historic second state visit.

The royal family pulled out all the stops to greet the visiting American president, with the Trumps met by the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine, who promptly escorted the first couple to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla at the medieval castle.

A total of 120 horses and 1,300 British military servicemen took part in the ceremonial welcome, which was capped by a joint UK-US military flypast.

Following the ceremony, Trump and members of his administration are set to enjoy a lavish banquet filled with royals, politicians, and prominent public figures with ties to both the UK and the US.
