The weakest No. 1 seed in vulnerable Michigan. A soft and overseeded No. 3 in Virginia, which lacks any high-end victories.
A No. 4 (Alabama) and a No. 5 (Texas Tech) that are both not playing their best, and in the case of Texas Tech, just isn’t the same team without star forward JT Toppin.
If you’re looking for a region for chaos, this is it. Expect multiple upsets, particularly considering the strength of lower seeds like No. 6 Tennessee, No. 12 Akron and No. 13 Hofstra.
Bracket Buster
No. 6 Tennessee
The Volunteers have a terrific draw. No. 3 Virginia is beatable, and No. 2 Iowa State isn’t an overwhelming opponent. Tennessee’s one-two punch of point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie and wing Nate Ament is lethal, and it has a physical frontcourt that is terrific on the offensive glass.
